 Custom Ceramic Wells Fargo Saddle Bag
Inspiration for this "remembrance" art piece came one day when playing with the clay. Visions of the early settlers, the Pony Express, Lewis & Clark and the "Wild West" came to mind. This 3-dimensional piece is made of stoneware clay and reproduces the "feel" of a bruised, battered and cracked leather satchel, hand-stitched with worn handle and "bone" button. The "leather" patch denotes a rider for the bank carried important papers through rough territory in the 1800's. This reproduction is a form of "Trompe L'Oeil", a French phrase meaning "to fool the eye". The "Satchel" is mounted securely on weathered boards and is ready to hang indoors or out. |
